Axel is an experienced and acknowledged M&A specialist for small and medium-sized company transactions. He is in the M&A business since 1989 and has successfully advised entrepreneurs and family-owned businesses as well as leading private equity firms on numerous domestic and cross-border transactions.

The core expertise of his broad sector knowledge is in the fields of business support services, consumer and industrial goods as well as chemicals/healthcare. Across all sectors he develops successful solutions for complex projects and in special situations. Due to his exceptional deal-making competence Axel has been honored with several international awards. Apart from pure M&A advice, Axel acts as business coach and sparring partner of shareholders for quite different purposes. Axel is also a prolific writer and interview partner on topics such as m&a, succession arrangements, corporate finance, private equity etc.

Axel began his career at Hamburg based private bank M.M Warburg & CO. He held numerous senior positions at IKB Deutsche Industriebank AG (Head of M&A, Managing Director), BHF-Bank AG (Head of M&A, Managing Director), Doertenbach & Co. GmbH (Managing Partner), M&A International GmbH (Managing Partner) and Oaklins Germany (Member of the Executive Board, Partner). With Gollnick Corporate Finance he returned to a more exiting route as entrepreneurial advisor.

Following a bank apprenticeship, Axel studied Business Administration and Law at the University of Göttingen (Germany). He holds a Master in Business Administration and a PhD in Law (Dr. jur.). Axel has been a scholar of the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation.

Axel is chairman of the supervisory board of NWDH Holding AG, a family holding company based in Hameln, and chairman of the executive board of the charitable Kronberg Foundation, Kronberg.
